Hong Kong BN(O) Household Member Visa
The Hong Kong BN(O) Household Member Visa provides a tailored immigration pathway for adult children (aged 18 or above) of a BN(O) Status Holder or their partner, who were born on or after 1 July 1997, to reside, work, and pursue studies in the United Kingdom.
Applicants for this visa category may either be ordinarily resident in Hong Kong or already living in the UK. The BN(O) Household Member Visa also offers a direct route towards permanent settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK after fulfilling the required residence period.
Holders of a Hong Kong BN(O) Household Member Visa can also be accompanied by their dependent partner, children under 18, or adult dependent relatives of either the household member or their partner.
Since 30 November 2022, adult children born on or after 1 July 1997 are no longer required to reside in the same household or submit their applications concurrently with their BN(O) Status Holder parents. This means adult children now have the flexibility to apply independently, and they may include their own partner, dependent children, or adult dependent relatives within the same application.

Applications from Outside the UK:
You must ordinarily be resident in Hong Kong on the date of your application.Applications from Inside the UK (Switching Routes):
You must normally reside in Hong Kong, the UK, Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man at the time of application.

It is crucial to present strong evidence of your residency status, which can vary depending on your personal circumstances.
Hong Kong BN(O) Household Member Visa – Financial Requirement
If you are applying from outside the UK, you must demonstrate the ability to adequately maintain and accommodate yourself (or be supported by a BN(O) Status Holder) without recourse to public funds for at least 6 months.

The Immigration Rules outline multiple ways to meet the financial criteria. Applicants can rely on credible third-party financial support, where applicable.
Adequate Maintenance:
The calculation follows the formula:A – B ≥ C
Where:
A = Weekly income (or cash savings divided by weeks of leave granted)
B = Weekly housing costs
C = Income support threshold for a similar household
We can guide you in providing the correct financial evidence and ensuring compliance with the official formula.
Adequate Accommodation:
Accommodation must not be overcrowded and must meet public health and safety standards.
